GENERAL SUMMARY:
Under supervision and in alignment with established policies and procedures, the Radiology Technologist performs accurate and efficient diagnostic examinations across all areas of general radiology. Technologists are expected to exhibit strong clinical skills and produce high-quality images for interpretation. They must apply principles of radiation protection and adhere to relevant regulations. This position includes assuming responsibility for designated areas and providing clinical instruction as needed, all while embodying Corewell Health’s philosophy of Patient and Family Centered Care.

Essential Duties:

  • Conduct quality diagnostic exams following patient identification verification and physician orders.
  • Gather and document accurate patient histories in medical records.
  • Monitor patient safety during procedures.
  • Perform radiographic and related patient care procedures using age-appropriate methods based on the patient’s physical abilities and limitations.
  • Ensure STAT requests are communicated to the radiologist promptly.
  • Communicate effectively across departments with customer service, administrative staff, medical personnel, and colleagues.
  • Operate diagnostic imaging equipment proficiently and adhere to policies regarding malfunctions or quality control issues.
  • Implement ALARA standards to minimize radiation exposure for patients, staff, and oneself.
  • Provide patients and their families with procedural information and education prior to exams.
  • Support the efficient operation of the department by assisting colleagues and complying with quality assurance and quality control protocols.
  • Accurately and efficiently utilize hospital computer systems for verifying orders, viewing schedules, and transferring information to PACS.
  • Assist in the training of students and new hires.
  • Ensure thorough cleaning of equipment between patients and maintain exam rooms stocked with necessary linens and supplies.
  • Maintain competency across all assigned areas, including fluoroscopic, general diagnostic, orthopedic, and operating procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of a Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) Accredited Radiography program.
  • Radiologic Technologist Registration (CRT) from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) required within 180 days.
  • CRT-Radiographer (R) registration from ARRT required upon hire.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from either the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross (ARC) required upon hire.
