General Summary
Under supervision and in accordance with established policies and procedures, you will perform accurate and efficient diagnostic exams across all areas of general radiology. Our technologists are expected to exhibit strong clinical skills and ensure the highest quality images for interpretation. You will apply principles of radiation safety and adhere to regulations while taking responsibility for your designated area and providing appropriate clinical instruction. At all times, you will uphold Corewell Health’s philosophy of Patient and Family Centered Care.

Essential Duties

  • Conduct quality diagnostic exams following verification of patient identification and physician orders.
  • Accurately obtain and document patient history in the medical record.
  • Monitor patients throughout procedures to ensure their safety.
  • Perform radiographic and related patient care procedures using appropriate methods tailored to each patient’s physical abilities and limitations.
  • Ensure that STAT requests are communicated to the radiologist promptly.
  • Maintain effective communication across inter- and intra-department levels with customer service, administrative staff, medical professionals, and peers.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in operating diagnostic imaging equipment and adhere to policies addressing any malfunctions or quality control issues.
  • Employ ALARA standards to minimize radiation exposure to patients, staff, and yourself.
  • Provide thorough procedural information and education to patients and families prior to each exam.
  • Contribute to the smooth operation of the department by assisting colleagues and ensuring compliance with quality assurance and control standards.
  • Utilize hospital computer systems efficiently to verify orders, view schedules, and transmit information to PACS.
  • Assist in the training of students and new hires.
  • Ensure all equipment is disinfected between patients and that exam rooms are clean and adequately stocked with necessary linens and supplies.
  • Maintain competency across all assigned areas, including fluoroscopy, general diagnostic, orthopedic, and surgical procedures.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of a Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) accredited Radiography program.
  • Relevant training acquired during educational experience.
  • CRT-Radiologic Technologist registration – ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) required within 180 days.
  • CRT-Radiographer (R) registration from ARRT required upon hire.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from AHA (American Heart Association) or ARC (American Red Cross) required upon hire.
