General Summary
Under supervision and in accordance with established policies and procedures, you will perform accurate and efficient diagnostic exams across all areas of general radiology. As a technologist, you will be expected to demonstrate strong clinical skills and provide high-quality images for interpretation. You will apply principles of radiation protection and ensure compliance with relevant regulations, while assuming responsibility for your designated area and offering clinical instruction as necessary. Essential Duties
- Perform quality diagnostic examinations following the verification of patient identification and physician orders.
- Acquire and document accurate patient history in the medical record.
- Monitor patients during procedures to ensure their safety.
- Conduct radiographic and related patient care procedures suitable for the patient’s age, physical abilities, and limitations.
- Relay STAT requests to the radiologist promptly.
- Communicate effectively within and across departments, collaborating with customer service, administrative staff, medical staff, and peers.
- Demonstrate proficiency in operating diagnostic imaging equipment and follow established procedures for equipment malfunctions or quality control failures.
- Utilize ALARA standards to minimize radiation exposure to patients, staff, and yourself.
- Provide informative procedural education to patients and their families prior to examinations.
- Contribute to the efficient operation of the department by assisting colleagues and ensuring compliance with quality assurance and quality control.
- Utilize hospital computer systems accurately and efficiently for order verification, schedule viewing, and transmitting information to PACS.
- Assist in the training of students and new hires.
- Ensure that equipment is sanitized between patients, and maintain a clean exam room stocked with necessary linens and supplies.
- Maintain competency in all areas assigned, including but not limited to fluoroscopy, general diagnostics, orthopedics, and operating procedures.
Qualifications
- Required: Graduate of a Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) accredited Radiography program.
- Training acquired at the student level.
- CRT-Radiologic Technologist Registration – ARRT American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (to be completed within 180 days).
- CRT-Radiographer (R) – ARRT American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (required upon hire).
- CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) – AHA American Heart Association or ARC American Red Cross (required upon hire).
