GENERAL SUMMARY:
Under supervision and in accordance with established policies and procedures, the Radiology Technologist performs accurate and efficient diagnostic exams across all areas of general radiology. Technologists are expected to demonstrate strong clinical skills, providing high-quality images for interpretation while applying principles of radiation protection and adhering to regulations. This role includes responsibility for a designated area and, when appropriate, offering clinical instruction. ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
– Execute quality diagnostic exams, ensuring verification of patient identification and physician orders.
– Obtain and document an accurate patient history in the medical record, while monitoring patients during procedures to ensure safety.
– Perform radiographic and related patient care procedures using age-appropriate methods that consider the patient’s physical abilities and limitations.
– Ensure timely communication of STAT requests to radiologists.
– Communicate effectively with customer service, administrative staff, medical staff, and colleagues on inter/intra-departmental matters.
– Operate diagnostic imaging equipment proficiently and adhere to policy regarding equipment malfunctions or quality control issues.
– Apply ALARA principles to minimize radiation exposure to patients, staff, and oneself.
– Provide patients and their families with procedural information and education prior to exams.
– Support department operations by assisting colleagues and complying with quality assurance and control standards.
– Utilize hospital computer systems accurately for verifying orders, viewing schedules, and managing information in PACS.
– Assist in training students and new hires.
– Maintain equipment cleanliness and ensure exam rooms are stocked with necessary supplies.
– Stay proficient in all assigned areas, including fluoroscopic, general diagnostic, orthopedic, and operating procedures.

STANDARD QUALIFICATIONS:

Education / Training:
– Graduate of a Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) Accredited Radiography program.
– Must obtain registration within six months of the hire date.

Work Experience:
– Training acquired at the student level.

Certification, Licensure, Registration:
– Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists, maintaining good standing with the ARRT.

Other Qualifications:
– Basic Life Support Certification for Healthcare Providers from The American Heart Association and/or The American Red Cross at the time of hire.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Physical Effort:
– Ability to frequently push/pull up to 30-pound objects with assistance; occasionally lift objects over 50 pounds with assistance; frequently lift up to 40 pounds.
– Constant performance of simple motor skills such as standing and walking; frequent engagement in moderately difficult tasks like positioning patients.
– Constant gross body coordination and frequent tasks requiring hand-eye coordination, such as specimen collection.
– Frequent walking and standing; occasional sitting for extended periods; frequent bending while caring for patients in bed.
– Constantly see objects at varying distances and hear normal sounds amid background noise.
