GENERAL SUMMARY:
Under supervision and in accordance with established policies and procedures, you will perform accurate and efficient diagnostic examinations across all areas of general radiology. Technologists are expected to demonstrate strong clinical skills to ensure the production of high-quality images for interpretation. You will apply principles of radiation protection and adhere to relevant regulations while assuming responsibility for designated areas and providing clinical instruction as needed. Essential Duties:
- Conduct quality diagnostic exams following verification of patient identification and physician orders.
- Obtain and document an accurate patient history in the medical record.
- Monitor patients during procedures to ensure their safety.
- Perform radiographic and related patient care procedures using age-appropriate methods that accommodate the patient’s physical abilities or limitations.
- Communicate STAT requests to the radiologist promptly.
- Engage effectively with colleagues on inter- and intra-departmental levels, including customer service, administrative, and medical staff.
- Demonstrate proficiency in operating diagnostic imaging equipment and follow procedures for addressing malfunctions or quality control issues.
- Utilize ALARA standards to minimize radiation exposure for patients, staff, and yourself.
- Provide procedural information and education to patients and their families prior to examinations.
- Contribute to departmental efficiency by assisting colleagues and ensuring compliance with quality assurance measures.
- Accurately and efficiently navigate hospital computer systems for order verification, scheduling, and transferring information to PACS.
- Assist in the training and onboarding of students and new hires.
- Ensure equipment cleanliness and availability of linen and supplies in the examination room between patients.
- Maintain competency across all assigned areas, including fluoroscopic and general diagnostic procedures, orthopedic, and operating environments.
Qualifications:
- Graduation from a Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) accredited Radiography program is required.
- Training acquired at the student level is mandatory.
- CRT-Radiologic Technologist Registration through the ARRT is required within 180 days.
- CRT-Radiographer (R) certification from the ARRT is required upon hire.
- CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from either the AHA or ARC is required upon hire.
