GENERAL SUMMARY:
This role involves performing precise and efficient diagnostic exams across all areas of general radiology under supervision and in accordance with established policies and procedures. Radiology Technologists are expected to exhibit strong clinical skills while delivering the highest quality images for interpretation. Candidates must adhere to radiation protection principles and relevant regulations, take responsibility for designated areas, and provide clinical instruction as needed, all while embodying Corewell Health’s philosophy of Patient and Family-Centered Care.

Essential Duties:

  • Conduct high-quality diagnostic exams following verification of patient identification and physician orders.
  • Obtain and document detailed patient histories in the medical record.
  • Monitor patients throughout procedures to ensure their safety.
  • Execute radiographic and related patient care procedures utilizing age-appropriate methods tailored to the patient’s capabilities and limitations.
  • Relay STAT requests to the radiologist promptly.
  • Communicate effectively at both inter-departmental and intra-departmental levels with customer service, administrative personnel, medical staff, and colleagues.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in operating diagnostic imaging equipment and adhere to policies regarding malfunctions or quality control failures.
  • Employ ALARA standards to minimize radiation exposure to patients, staff, and oneself.
  • Provide procedural information and education to patients and families prior to each exam.
  • Support department operations by assisting colleagues and maintaining compliance with quality assurance and quality control measures.
  • Utilize hospital computer systems efficiently for order verification, schedule viewing, and data transmission to PACS.
  • Assist in training students and new hires.
  • Ensure thorough cleaning of equipment between patients and maintain cleanliness and supply levels in exam rooms.
  • Maintain competence in all assigned areas, including, but not limited to, fluoroscopic, general diagnostic, orthopedic, and operating procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Graduation from a Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) Accredited Radiography program.
  • Training obtained at the student level is required.
  • CRT – Radiologic Technologist Registration from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) is required within 180 days.
  • CRT – Radiographer (R) registration from ARRT is required upon hire.
  • CRT – Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from either the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross (ARC) is required upon hire.
