GENERAL SUMMARY:
Under supervision and in accordance with established policies and procedures, the Radiology Technologist will perform accurate and efficient diagnostic examinations across all areas of general radiology. Technologists are expected to demonstrate strong clinical skills while providing high-quality images for interpretation. The role requires the application of radiation protection principles and strict adherence to relevant regulations. ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
The Radiology Technologist will perform quality diagnostic examinations while verifying patient identification and physician orders. Responsibilities include acquiring a thorough patient history and documenting it in the medical record, monitoring patients during procedures to ensure safety, and carrying out radiographic and related patient care procedures tailored to the patient’s age and physical capability. The technologist ensures that emergency (STAT) requests are communicated promptly to the radiologist and maintains effective communication across departmental and inter-departmental lines, engaging with customer service, administrative staff, medical professionals, and peers. Proficiency in operating diagnostic imaging equipment and following policies regarding equipment malfunctions or quality control failures is essential. The candidate will adhere to ALARA standards to minimize radiation exposure for patients, staff, and themselves. Procedural information and education will be provided to patients and their families prior to examinations. The technologist will contribute to the smooth operation of the department by assisting colleagues and ensuring compliance with quality assurance protocols. Familiarity with hospital computer systems for order verification, schedule viewing, and data transfer to PACS is necessary. Training of students and new hires will also be part of the role. Cleanliness and proper stocking of examination rooms, as well as thorough disinfection of equipment between patients, are critical responsibilities. The technologist must maintain proficiency in all assigned areas including fluoroscopic, general diagnostic, orthopedic, and operating procedures.

STANDARD QUALIFICATIONS:

Education / Training:

  • Graduate of a Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) accredited Radiography program.
  • Registration must be completed within 6 months of hire date.

Work Experience:

  • Training acquired at the student level.

Certification, Licensure, Registration:

  • Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists; must maintain good standing with the ARRT.

Other Qualifications:

  • Basic Life Support Certification for Healthcare Providers from the American Heart Association and/or the American Red Cross at the time of hire.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Physical Effort:
