Job description:

This position entails providing service and support to various Sherwin-Williams groups, including GSC, CBG, TAG, and PCG, with a focus on natural weathering. The role encompasses a combination of indoor and outdoor activities throughout the year, including data entry and fieldwork involving sample handling. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to, labeling, painting, and evaluating exposure panels.

The incumbent will interact with other employees and may have access to confidential and proprietary information, which may occur under supervised or unsupervised conditions. Primary responsibilities include:

  • Applying coatings to substrates as specified in the series design, as well as inspecting and evaluating weathered exposure panels.
  • Monitoring and rating active exposures, identifying corrective actions when necessary.
  • Ensuring the timely and accurate entry of data into exposure tracking databases.
  • Generating necessary tracking files and documentation.
  • Processing exposure requests in a timely manner.
  • Managing the shipping, receiving, packing, and handling of samples to and from Sherwin-Williams and external sites.
  • Understanding and contributing to the entire exposure processes, workflows, and tools, while supporting changes in response to evolving business needs.
  • Adhering to safety, quality, and housekeeping policies and guidelines.

Basic Qualification:

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the country for which you are applying (without requiring current or future sponsorship for employment work visa and/or permanent residence status).

Formal Education:
Required:

  • High School Diploma

Knowledge & Experience:
Required:

  • Some prior experience or foundational knowledge of painting and painting techniques.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong communication skills (both written and verbal) and interpersonal abilities.
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills.
  • Proven problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.

Preferred:

  • At least one year of experience in the coatings industry or equivalent academic background.
  • Basic knowledge of architectural paints and coatings.
  • Fundamental understanding of exterior weathering and weathering test methods.
  • Familiarity with Design for Six Sigma, Voice of the Customer, and Design of Experiments is preferred.

Technical/Skill Requirements:
Required:

  • Proficient in utilizing software programs such as Business Objects, Concur, LIMS, and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Word, etc.).
  • Ability to communicate results effectively in both written and verbal formats. Strong organizational skills and a high level of initiative are essential.
  • Expertise in internal exterior exposure methods.

Preferred:

  • Basic knowledge of accelerated exposure testing.

Travel Requirements:

  • Up to 10% travel may be required.
