Job description:
Under general supervision, this role is responsible for overseeing the collection of refuse and the maintenance of cleanliness in streets and alleys.

Key Responsibilities:

– Supervise the activities of a moderately sized team utilizing trucks designed for one-person or multiple-person crews, engaged in the collection of garbage or rubbish along designated routes within an assigned section of the City or at specific locations.
– Conduct regular inspections of work performed, documenting any physical changes in routes, and request additional resources as necessary to maintain schedules.
– Maintain detailed time records for workers, trip logs for trucks, and generate simple reports pertaining to yardage, tonnage, and work completed.
– Address and resolve complaints, ensuring the correction of identified deficiencies.
– Identify minor equipment malfunctions and perform repairs when appropriate.
– Report major equipment malfunctions and coordinate preventive maintenance schedules.
– Train employees on job responsibilities as well as the proper care and operation of equipment.
– Monitor employee attendance and recommend disciplinary actions as needed.
– Assist in planning district pickup locations as assigned.
– Oversee the sweeping of streets, snow removal, and the application of salt and sand on icy roads, ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards.
– Execute additional duties related to refuse collection and disposal, including identifying suitable dump grounds, ensuring their upkeep, addressing complaints, and collecting tickets for the removal of commercial rubbish.

Minimum Qualifications:

– High School diploma or GED.
– A minimum of two (2) years of experience in the planning and supervision of multiple groups involved in municipal waste removal and street cleaning.
