As a Registered Nurse in our Emergency Department, you will play an essential role in a multidisciplinary care team dedicated to advancing patient care while ensuring quality and safety. This position is ideal for individuals who desire to engage with a diverse range of patients and varying levels of acuity. Our self-scheduling tool allows for flexibility in shift and weekend coverage, complemented by an 18% night shift differential and a flat rate $3/hour weekend shift differential.

Banner Ironwood Medical Center continuously adapts to meet the evolving healthcare needs of the communities within southeast metropolitan Phoenix. Our first patient tower includes 47 beds and 8 labor, delivery, and recovery rooms, with the capacity to accommodate up to 89 beds when fully operational. The facility also includes a full-service emergency department, four surgical suites, and medical imaging services, all situated on an expansive 80-acre campus with potential for significant growth.

POSITION SUMMARY
This role involves assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating, and documenting nursing care for patients in accordance with organizational policies and established nursing standards. The Registered Nurse is accountable for the quality of nursing services provided and employs specialized knowledge and clinical judgment to deliver comprehensive care tailored to the physical and developmental needs of assigned patients.

CORE FUNCTIONS

  1. Conduct thorough assessments of patients’ physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural, and discharge planning needs. Collaborate with patients and families, ensuring timely completion of evaluations and effective communication with the healthcare team. Analyze diagnostic and laboratory data, promptly reporting any abnormalities to the appropriate medical personnel.
  2. Develop individualized care plans, including discharge planning, by synthesizing assessment data and collaborating with patients, families, and healthcare teams. Establish realistic, measurable goals alongside the patient and family, taking into account their unique needs and circumstances. Routinely review and adjust care plans in response to the patient’s evolving condition.
  3. Execute the care plan by delivering direct patient care, coordinating team activities, and supervising nursing staff. Ensure compliance with established protocols, providing appropriate nursing oversight in various healthcare situations and ensuring effective communication of patient status to all involved caregivers.
  4. Assess the responses of patients and their families to interventions and educational strategies, modifying the care plan as needed. Evaluate patient progress toward established goals in collaboration with the healthcare team.
  5. Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all relevant patient interactions, assessments, and care evaluations in accordance with policy guidelines. Ensure that all entries are legible and reflective of both subjective and objective data.
  6. Utilize evidence-based practices in patient care and participate in relevant research initiatives. Engage in shared leadership within the unit and contribute to the education and orientation of various personnel, patients, and visitors, promoting professional growth through mentorship and preceptorship opportunities.
  7. Actively contribute to initiatives aimed at improving national nursing quality indicators and patient outcomes, engaging in activities that promote timely, efficient, and safe care delivery.
  8. In specific roles, this position may supervise the workflow and staff within the department.
  9. Collaborate effectively with a diverse range of staff members, healthcare providers, and external partners to facilitate comprehensive patient care, offering spiritual support as needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates must hold a current, valid RN license in the state of practice, or possess a temporary/interim license or compact RN licensure. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is mandatory. Additional certifications or continuing education may be required based on specialization. Experience in the relevant clinical area is desirable, and candidates must maintain clinical competencies as verified through annual evaluations. Registry and travel acute care positions require a minimum of one year of acute care hospital experience within the past 12 months. Home health team members must have a valid driver’s license and maintain auto insurance. Employees at specific Banner facilities may require a valid fingerprint clearance card upon employment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
A Bachelor’s degree in nursing is preferred, along with relevant professional certification and any additional education or experience related to the field.
