Ohio Valley Goodwill Industries, established in 1916, is one of the largest providers of rehabilitation services in Ohio. We operate a network of retail stores that generate revenue to support thousands of individuals with disabilities and homeless local veterans.

The Retail Sales Associate serves as the primary point of contact for retail customers, delivering exceptional customer service and ensuring a pleasant and safe shopping environment. This role requires collaboration with team members in a fast-paced setting to facilitate the sale and display of merchandise on the sales floor, as well as providing operational support to the management team.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Availability to work a flexible schedule to accommodate store opening, production, and closing operations.
• Proficient in English with effective communication skills to engage with customers and OVGI associates.
• Strong verbal communication and active listening abilities.
• Proven sales and customer service skills with a knack for anticipating customer needs.
• Competence in processing information and merchandise using computer systems and POS registers; proficiency with calculators is essential.
• Basic math and cash handling skills, with the ability to count change, provide accurate change, and maintain an accurate register, with or without a calculator.

Physical Requirements

• Capability to work in a non-climate-controlled environment.
• Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, and twist for up to 8 hours.
• Regularly lift up to 35 pounds.
• Frequent use of hands and fingers for operating computers and telephones is required.
• Specific vision requirements for computer work.
• Consistent and predictable attendance is necessary, depending on business needs.

Role and Responsibilities

• Deliver professional, friendly, and courteous service to all customers both in-store and over the phone.
• Process sales transactions accurately at the POS.
• Maintain a flexible work schedule as determined by the supervisor, including weekends and holidays.
• Demonstrate knowledge of merchandise and respond to customer queries promptly and courteously.
• Ensure dressing room standards are upheld.
• Maintain the presentation of the sales floor and communicate product needs to management.
• Keep the register area tidy and organized.
• Implement store security procedures as required.
• Use the paging system to communicate store messages.
• Conduct store housekeeping duties, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and dusting, particularly in restrooms and dressing rooms.
• Assist donors and customers outside retail locations by greeting donors, receiving donations, and providing receipts.
• Effectively communicate the organization’s mission and vision to donors and customers while soliciting monetary donations at the POS.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibility
This position does not involve supervisory responsibilities.

Compensation
Pay rate: $12.00 per hour.
