Job description:
Assists in overseeing the execution of all operations within the rooms division, including Front Office, Engineering/Maintenance, and Housekeeping, while managing staff effectively. Aims to continuously enhance guest and employee satisfaction and optimize the financial performance of the department. Monitors adherence to standards and procedures and leads specific teams to meet or exceed property objectives.
Candidate Profile
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED with four years of experience in guest services, front desk operations, housekeeping, or a related professional area, OR
- A two-year degree from an accredited university in Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or a similar field, along with two years of experience in guest services, front desk operations, housekeeping, or a related professional area.
Core Work Activities
Leading Room Operations Team:
- Ensures that departmental goals are effectively communicated to the team in relation to guest tracking and productivity.
- Fosters a property environment that prioritizes motivation, empowerment, teamwork, continuous improvement, and exceptional service.
- Analyzes employee and guest satisfaction results to formulate strategies for improvement and capitalize on strengths.
- Confirms that the team possesses the necessary skills to meet performance expectations.
- Demonstrates leadership through self-confidence, energy, and enthusiasm.
- Supports employees in understanding and exceeding the evolving needs and expectations of guests.
Managing Property Rooms Operations Functions:
- Aids in managing the execution of operations within the rooms division.
- Adheres to the property-specific secondary effort and recovery plan.
- Publishes guest satisfaction results promptly, including all feedback forms, comment cards, and guest letters.
- Proactively addresses employee concerns.
- Maintains a professional and courteous demeanor towards employees at all times.
- Communicates and updates goals and results effectively with team members.
- Conducts semiannual one-on-one meetings with staff.
- Assists and trains the team on effective scheduling to align with guest and occupancy goals.
- Performs hourly job functions as necessary.
- Undertakes additional duties as assigned to meet business needs.
Managing and Monitoring Activities that Affect the Guest Experience:
- Recognizes and embodies the brand’s service culture.
- Delivers excellent customer service by being accessible and approachable to all guests.
- Strives for continuous improvement in both guest and employee satisfaction.
- Takes initiative when addressing guest concerns.

Managing Profitability:
- Assists in conducting the required annual Quality audit alongside the General Manager (GM) and Regional Director (RD).
- Ensures that a robust key control program is in place.
- Reviews financial statements, sales and activity reports, and other performance data to evaluate productivity, goal achievement, and identify areas for cost reduction and program enhancement.
- Focuses on maximizing the financial performance of the department.
Conducting Human Resources Activities:
- Participates in the interview process and contributes to hiring decisions.
- Reviews hiring recommendations from team supervisors.
- Ensures that orientations for new team members are thorough and conducted promptly.
- Encourages employee feedback and maintains an “open door” policy while reviewing employee satisfaction results to identify and resolve concerns.
- Ensures that property policies are administered fairly, with disciplinary procedures and documentation completed according to Standard and Local Operating Procedures (SOPs and LSOPs), supporting the Peer Review Process when applicable.
- Celebrates successes and publicly acknowledges team members’ contributions.
The salary range for this position is $56,000 to $69,000 annually.
