Job Description:
As a Safety Manager in the Commercial Sector for Mission Critical/Data Centers, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the safety and compliance of construction projects across Central Ohio and other domestic locations as needed. This position involves travel and requires a commitment to maintaining a safe working environment for all personnel.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and oversee project safety guidelines, ensuring adherence to the Caddell Corporate Safety Program throughout all phases of the project.
- Collaborate with the Corporate Safety Manager to create safe work plans tailored to specific project phases and crew tasks.
- Conduct comprehensive daily safety inspections of active work areas and maintain detailed documentation of these inspections.
- Advise field staff on matters related to safety issues, policies, procedures, and industry regulations.
- Facilitate initial safety orientation sessions for new hires to foster a culture of safety from day one.
- Monitor and promote effective housekeeping practices to maintain a clean and safe working environment.
- Act as a construction safety liaison between the owner, subcontractors, and field teams.
- Prepare and submit all necessary safety-related reports in a timely manner.
- Investigate accidents and property damage incidents, conducting thorough post-incident analyses.
- Undertake additional duties as assigned by the Corporate Safety Manager.
Working Conditions:
- This role is set in a construction environment requiring full-time travel. Candidates must possess the physical capability to crawl, climb, walk, reach with hands and arms, bend, kneel, crouch, and stand for extended periods, as well as lift and hold over 50 lbs. The ability to endure confined spaces and extreme heights while ensuring the safety of oneself and others is essential. Conditions may vary from hot to cold, humid to wet, depending on location.
Reporting Structure:
- Directly reports to the Corporate Safety Manager.
Expectations:
- Possess effective written and verbal communication skills alongside excellent organizational abilities.
- Maintain a strong working knowledge of applicable OSHA regulations.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
Certifications and Licenses:
- OSHA 30-hour Certification, First Aid/CPR Certification, and Competent Persons Training.
Education and Experience:
- A minimum of a high school diploma or GED with at least five years of experience in safety management is required. A four-year degree in Occupational Safety and Health coupled with ten years of experience is preferred; however, specific job requirements may adjust educational and experiential criteria.
