Job description:

A Safety & Security Guard is tasked with ensuring the safety and security of hotel guests, employees, and property. The role requires maintaining a visible presence to foster a sense of comfort and well-being among guests. Depending on the hotel’s operations, the guard may be positioned in the base office to oversee security at the Associate entrance and conduct temperature checks in accordance with COVID-19 protocols, as necessary.

Qualifications:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred, along with experience in a hotel or related field.
  • Completion of Safety and Security Training, meeting state requirements.
  • Certification in CPR, First Aid, and the Heimlich maneuver.

Responsibilities:

  • Approach all interactions with guests and employees with a friendly, service-oriented attitude.
  • Adhere to regular attendance requirements in line with Aimbridge Hospitality standards, with scheduling flexibility based on hotel needs.
  • Maintain professional appearance and grooming standards, including proper uniform and name tag during shifts (as per brand guidelines).
  • Comply with Aimbridge Hospitality standards and regulations to promote safe and efficient hotel operations at all times.
  • Respond to phone inquiries and dispatch requests promptly, demonstrating proper two-way radio etiquette while maintaining constant communication with the Front Desk/Night Auditor.
  • Ensure visual contact with the Front Desk/Night Auditor and the hotel entrance by remaining in the lobby area when not conducting property walks.
  • Keep and review the daily activity log.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding guest and Associate incidents.
  • Conduct briefings with Guest Services staff at the beginning and end of each shift.
  • Grant access to secured areas for authorized personnel and verify visitor/Associate identification as required.
  • Stay informed about the legal limitations associated with the role (local and state ordinances, etc.).
  • Assist guests to their rooms or facilitate their entry into rooms.
  • Investigate incidents such as room thefts, auto accidents, and assault complaints for guests; act as the first responder in collaboration with Department Head/Hotel leadership to complete incident reports.
  • Offer assistance to external agencies as necessary.
  • Provide escort services as needed.
  • Aid HR or MOD in managing Associate disputes.
  • Assist guests exhibiting signs of intoxication.
  • Possess detailed knowledge about hotel and guestroom locking systems.
  • Respond to security alarms and monitor CCTV systems, where applicable.
  • Challenge individuals displaying suspicious behavior.
  • Conduct rounds to check for safety hazards, verify lights and door locks, and retrieve items left on the property.
  • Assist during medical emergencies by administering First Aid, CPR, or the Heimlich maneuver as required.
  • Collaborate with Department Head/Hotel leadership to prepare Incident/Accident Reports accurately and clearly.
  • Receive deliveries and deliver requested items to guest rooms as needed.
  • Support the Front Desk with express check-outs, newspaper deliveries, and transportation needs as applicable.
  • Manage "Lost and Found" items following established protocols.
  • Participate in special functions, attend meetings, and perform additional duties as required.
