The Senior Packaging Engineer will play a vital role in supporting the design, development, verification, and validation of packaging systems for our medical device products. Based in our Engineering Department in Cincinnati, Ohio, this on-site position is integral to our Packaging Engineering and Labeling Team, reporting directly to the Packaging Engineering and Labeling Manager. Key Responsibilities:
- Packaging Project Support: Engage in packaging and labeling projects, developing requirements, planning, designing, sourcing, and implementing packaging systems for both sterile and non-sterile medical device products.
- Process Development: Collaborate on the selection of manufacturing equipment and assist in process development, including Installation Qualification (IQ), Operational Qualification (OQ), and Performance Qualification (PQ) activities.
- Material and Technology Evaluation: Assess new packaging and labeling technologies, supporting line trials and validation activities for any new components or processes before implementation.
- Risk Management: Conduct risk management activities within the quality management system, utilizing appropriate design controls.
- Verification and Validation Support: Provide support for Verification and Validation (V&V) initiatives in coordination with the V&V team and external testing facilities.
Essential Requirements:
- Education: A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree (BS) in Packaging or a related field.
- Experience: At least 5 years of packaging experience, with a minimum of 3 years focused on sterile medical devices.
- Regulatory and Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), ISO regulations (ISO 11607-1/-2 and ISO 13485), alongside proficiency in material and packaging testing methods (ASTM and ISTA) and sterilization processes.
- Independent Work: Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while effectively collaborating within cross-functional teams.
Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements:
- Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time, which may include both domestic and international travel.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Labeling Systems: Experience with packaging-related labeling systems (e.g., Labelview, Bartender).
- Project Management: Skills in project management or project planning, with the capability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
- Design Software: Familiarity with packaging-related design software (e.g., Artios CAD, CAPE Pack, TOPS).
The salary range for this position is $90,000 to $115,000. This is our good faith estimate of possible compensation for this role at the time of posting, and may be adjusted in the future. Additionally, this role is eligible for bonus/incentive pay, and we offer a comprehensive benefits package that includes paid time off, medical/dental/vision insurance, and a 401(k) plan for eligible employees.
