Job description:
To support the Manager of the Michigan Assigned Claims Plan (MACP) and Special Investigations Unit (SIU) in overseeing all functions of the Litigation Personal Injury Protection (PIP) Claims Unit, this role aims to ensure the prompt and efficient management and resolution of PIP claims. The Senior Supervisor will be responsible for the establishment and maintenance of quality control measures related to claim processing activities by both staff and defense counsel in relation to PIP losses. This position will also play a crucial role in assessing and implementing best practices and industry benchmarks to enhance customer service, while serving as a liaison with other organizational divisions.

Key Responsibilities:

– Collaborate with the MACP and SIU manager in the planning, organization, and management of all claims and clerical functions within the Litigation PIP Claims Unit, positively impacting overall company profitability.
– Deliver high-quality service to insured clients and assist in the risk selection and retention process through an effective field service operation.
– Research, implement, and monitor processes to ensure successful and consistent delivery of service standards. Stay informed about technological advancements that empower the team to perform their duties efficiently.
– Perform regular audits of litigation PIP claim files to ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and reserving practices, reporting any discrepancies to the MACP and SIU manager. Make recommendations for adjustments to ensure timely and fair resolution of claims while maintaining field service inspection quality.
– Foster a workplace culture that values, appreciates, and empowers team members to contribute to organizational improvement. Encourage knowledge sharing and collaboration among team members.
– Recruit and retain qualified staff, and establish performance metrics to reward excellence. Oversee the performance review process and actively participate in staff selection, promotion, disciplinary actions, and termination in line with corporate policies. Communicate clear expectations and performance standards.
– Design and implement a departmental training program by utilizing both internal and external resources to establish training objectives. Assess outcomes focusing on effectiveness and consistency, identifying opportunities for further development within the department and the broader division.

Qualifications:

Required:
– A Bachelor’s degree in insurance, business, communications, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
– At least ten years of claims experience, particularly in managing complex claims.
– A minimum of five years of supervisory experience in claims with a strong emphasis on customer service.
– Relevant litigation experience or equivalent qualifications.
– A valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record is mandatory.
– Possession or pursuit of relevant insurance designations such as AIC, CPCU, or similar.

Preferred:
– Experience with reinsurance is advantageous.
