Job description:
The Senior Supply Chain Manager is tasked with achieving financial objectives while ensuring that Dole’s Value Added Products (VAP) supply chain adheres to all Safe Quality Foods (SQF) standards, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), traceability protocols, and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) compliance. This role requires leveraging industry knowledge and management expertise to optimize raw material sourcing, yield management, customer order fulfillment, waste reduction, and the daily operations of receiving and shipping functions.

Key Responsibilities:

– Develop, implement, and maintain an effective, organizational-wide materials program to manage inventory cycles and utilization rates for both raw materials and finished goods packaging.
– Oversee procurement processes for necessary raw materials from both East Coast and West Coast Value Added processing plants.
– Manage cooling operations for all raw materials received from harvesting activities.
– Create, develop, and document processes and procedures governing inbound material flow and outbound finished product distribution to ensure compliance with SQF, GMP, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), and organizational objectives.
– Plan and develop the annual fiscal budget for procurement of materials, including raw materials and labor.
– Supervise the Materials Replenishment and Warehouse Teams by conducting interviews, hiring, training employees, planning and assigning work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining team members, and addressing and resolving complaints.
– Collaborate with trucking companies and the customer service department to ensure exceptional service and timely delivery of goods.
– Oversee the Warehouse Department, ensuring that trucks are unloaded promptly and that materials are delivered to the Operations team to enhance overall efficiency.
– Research, identify, and implement cost-saving opportunities within the department.
– Coordinate the distribution of all finished products, including direct shipments and deliveries to Dole Distribution Centers.
– Work closely with the Demand Planning department to manage demand forecasts for manufactured products and production schedules to align with customer demand and targeted inventory levels.
– Assist the procurement department with vendor selection, placing purchase orders, and maintaining a cost-effective supply chain.
– Contribute to product lifecycle management initiatives by providing analytical support for various projects and new business opportunities.
– Facilitate effective communication with Harvest Operations, Plant Operations (Quality Assurance and Production), and Transportation groups to streamline and enhance total quality objectives.
– Lead a robust safety program aimed at meeting or exceeding company safety goals.
– Adhere to all food safety requirements and GMPs relevant to this role.
– Ensure the integrity and functionality of the food safety system amid organizational or personnel changes within the company or associated facilities.
– Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills:

– 7-8+ years of experience in the supply chain field.
– Experience in a produce, salad, or other closely related perishable processing/manufacturing environment.
– At least 4 years of management/supervisory experience, preferably within a food processing company.
– Proficiency in lean manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
– Experience in inventory management is advantageous.
– Comprehensive understanding of material handling procedures, IT systems, procurement, receiving, inventory accounting, and good manufacturing practices is essential.
– Proven ability to translate business objectives into effective workflows and processes that foster success while anticipating obstacles and crafting strategies for resolution.
– Skilled decision-making ability that balances people, product, and process considerations while recognizing their organizational impact; adept at adapting interpersonal and communication techniques for effectiveness across all workforce levels; capable of collaborative work in cross-functional teams and making informed recommendations or decisions based on comprehensive data analysis.

Physical Requirements:

– Ability to navigate around various equipment, work in a cold environment, bend, stoop, climb stairs, and lift up to 40 pounds.
– Periodic travel availability.
– Capability to work in a cold environment (approximately 35°F on the plant floor).

Work Hours & Travel Requirements:

– Flexibility to work varied hours, including weekends and holidays, is necessary.
– Must be available on-call via cell phone during off-hours, with a readiness to assist in troubleshooting outside of normal business hours.
– Willingness to travel periodically.

Experience & Education:

– A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is preferred.
– Qualifications in Supply Chain (APICS or similar), Project Management (PMP), or Lean Six Sigma are beneficial.

Compensation:

– Salary range: $135,000 – $140,000 annually.
