Job Responsibilities
As a Senior Systems Engineer, your key responsibilities will include:

Smart Factory Systems Engineering: You will lead and develop the Connected & Smart Factory program within the department. Your role encompasses planning and executing strategies aimed at enhancing equipment efficiency and reliability by leveraging automation and digitalization. You will guide the Connected Factory strategy execution using digital technology and analytics to facilitate seamless data sharing across Honda’s Industrial Data Platform (Honda IDP) or other cloud services. As the Subject Matter Expert, you will manage Smart Factory, Connected Factory, and IoT-related initiatives, including data collection strategies, software development, ICS networking, machine connectivity, device configuration, SCADA implementation, predictive asset condition monitoring, video recording, and machine learning analytics.

Key Accountabilities:

Connected & Smart Factory Leadership (45% of time):
- Spearhead data connectivity strategies for the Assembly Department.
- Oversee the development and execution of the Connected Factory and Smart Factory strategies.
- Act as the Subject Matter Expert for Company IDP and DeviceWISE.
- Collaborate to develop and maintain training strategies for Assembly team members regarding implemented software and systems.
- Direct SCADA/ACM management and strategy development for the Assembly Department.
- Innovate strategies for continuous monitoring of PLCs/controls with playback and associated video.
- Provide software and ACM system/network support plant-wide.

IoT Project Support & Leadership (20% of time):
- Lead IoT projects focused on Connected Factory and networking initiatives.
- Serve as the SME for networking and Connected Factory-related projects.
- Participate in regional and local IoT meetings as necessary, supporting the MESD IoT Leader.

Network & Network Security Specialist (15% of time):
- Deliver leadership in network and network security activities within the Assembly Department.
- Develop an in-depth understanding of TMP-O ICS networks and networked devices through automated and hands-on inventories.
- Establish and maintain best practice recommendations for ICS networks as the Technical Advisor.
- Create and update training strategies for Network & Network Security within the Assembly Department.
- Provide troubleshooting support as an SME for Network & Network Security.

Assembly Software Specialist (10% of time):
- Compile a comprehensive list of required Assembly software and licenses for connectivity with industrial control systems/devices, such as vision systems, PLCs, safety PLCs, VFDs, Kepware, DeviceWise, and ICS networks.

Professional Development (5% of time):
- Engage in ongoing training in Network & Network Security, HDMA level-based training, and pursue certifications in predictive technologies and asset management.
- Tracking and Trend Analysis of Key Performance Indicators (5% of time):
- Monitor critical indicators and share insights with leadership to report on progress.

Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience.

Minimum of 5+ years of relevant experience, including:
- At least 2 years in industrial control systems (ICS) and related networks, with a thorough understanding of communication between machine devices, networks, and data platforms.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in networking and network security.
- At least 2 years dealing with machine controls including PLCs, robotics, and motion controls.
- Additional Skills:
- Familiarity with SQL and programming languages is preferred but not required.
- Experience in automated provisioning within major cloud environments is desired.
- Knowledge in monitoring and logging tools is advantageous.
- Proficient in programming, configuring, and troubleshooting PLCs and control devices.
- Strong understanding of network/network security principles and practices.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to analyze issues and implement effective solutions.
- Strong interpersonal skills and proficiency in project leadership, technical management, and business planning.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects effectively.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with a strong customer focus.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Capacity to interpret electrical and mechanical diagrams and ensure safety compliance.

- Project deliverables within 2% of planned outcomes.
- Continued advancement and execution of the Assembly Connected Factory Program.
- Reduction in downtime through the application of Smart/Connected Factory strategies.
- Clarity of weekend and shutdown project activities.
Communications & Working Relationships:
- Internal contacts include Plant Leadership, Assembly Department leads and managers, and MESD Team Members.
- External contacts encompass Purchasing, other company plants, and vendors.
