As a Server Assistant, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that all guests receive a warm welcome and a gracious farewell. You will be responsible for managing the flow of guests within the restaurant in an organized and timely manner, adhering to Suburban Inns’ Core Values, local health regulations, and the standards of Suburban Inns/Big E’s. Essential Functions:

  • Greet all guests in a friendly and positive manner, fostering personal connections to make them feel welcome and valued.
  • Welcome each guest upon entry and express gratitude as they depart, holding the door when possible.
  • Seat guests at appropriate tables based on their needs and manage the rotation to ensure servers receive a fair number of tables.
  • Assist with table service, which includes:
    • Refilling empty beverages
    • Clearing dishes from tables
    • Fetching and delivering items to guests
    • Pre-bussing, clearing, and cleaning tables
    • Wiping down menus
    • Answering phone calls, taking reservations, and handling to-go orders
    • Ensuring restrooms are clean and stocked as needed
    • Keeping the Server Assistant station fully stocked with crayons, children’s menus, and other necessary items
    • Maintaining regular attendance
    • Performing additional tasks as assigned by management

Position Requirements:

  • Uniform: A uniform shirt and nametag will be provided; Team Members are expected to provide their own pants and shoes that meet Suburban Inns specifications. Acceptable pants include black slacks or dark wash jeans without holes (no yoga-style). Shoes must be black, close-toed, and non-slip.
  • Appearance: Hair must be kept well-groomed. Facial piercings and tattoos not covered by the uniform must be approved by management. Any tattoos considered offensive to colleagues, guests, or vendors based on sensitive characteristics are not permitted and must be concealed at all times. This policy is enforced by the supervising authority without regard to any protected characteristics. The Vice President of Operations reserves the right to override any decisions made by supervisors regarding appearance.
