Job description:
Opens and closes the store in the absence of management, handling all required system start-ups, cash management, and ensuring that the sales floor and stockroom are adequately prepared for business operations. Responsible for facilitating the delivery process by opening the back door for vendors.

Processes product returns, order voids, customer refunds, and cash drops to the safe, while also providing change as requested at cash registers.

Demonstrates and promotes a distinctive and delightful customer experience.

Engages with customers and patients by warmly greeting them and offering assistance with products and services. Effectively resolves customer inquiries to ensure a positive experience.

Models and shares best practices in customer service with team members, emphasizing essential interpersonal skills such as greeting, maintaining eye contact, demonstrating courtesy, and exhibiting Walgreens service traits, including proactive assistance, needs identification, and effective resolution.

Holds store keys to facilitate opening and closing procedures without management oversight when necessary.

Coaches team members on collaborating with the warehouse and vendor ordering processes, which includes managing the receipt of orders and overseeing vendor deliveries through the back door.

Ensures accurate registration of all sales on the assigned cash register, maintaining records for scanning errors, price verifications, and item discrepancies.

Assists management in reviewing order exceptions on release day and supports reverse logistics processes.

Contributes to the evaluation and development of merchandise displays, including promotional and seasonal setups, and oversees resets and revisions.

Maintains precise inventory counts and ensures the accuracy of stock quantities across various departments and storage locations.

Aids in executing the Outdate program in collaboration with team members.

Responsible for implementing basic department pricing and making daily price changes, ensuring that accurate signage is displayed in accordance with local regulations and compliance programs.

Assists with various bookkeeping activities, including cash reporting, counts, ledgers, and bill payment as necessary.

Contributes to maintaining store cleanliness and organization, requesting repairs as needed in the absence of management.

Ensures proper food item separation and product placement according to policy, and assists in stock rotation using a first in, first out approach.

Possesses a working knowledge of store systems and equipment.

Provides assistance at the pharmacy out window as needed.

Ensures compliance with state and local regulations regarding restricted products, such as alcohol and tobacco.

Conducts bag checks for team members prior to exiting the store.

Adheres to all company policies and procedures, fostering respectful relationships with colleagues.

Completes special assignments and additional tasks as assigned.

Participates in training sessions and completes mandatory Personal Performance Learning (PPL) as required by the manager.

Obtains and maintains valid PTCB certification or pharmacy license as mandated by state regulations.

Acts as a conduit between management and non-management staff by effectively communicating assigned tasks in the absence of store leadership.

Reports disciplinary issues and customer complaints to management promptly.

Minimum qualifications include one year of prior leadership, supervisory, or retail key holder experience, and fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English (with the exception of Puerto Rico).

Preferred qualifications include familiarity with store inventory control.
