FULL TIME – DAY SHIFT
GENERAL SUMMARY:
Under general supervision, the Special Procedure Technologist provides comprehensive care before, during, and after Heart and/or Vascular procedures to support physicians and ensure high-quality, patient- and family-centered care. The role includes responsibilities such as initiating IVs, preparing patients, monitoring hemodynamics, operating medical equipment, documenting procedures, managing vascular access sites, and delivering educational support to patients and their families.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
– Monitor patients undergoing routine invasive and interventional procedures, providing intra-procedural technical support while maintaining a focus on quality patient and family-centered care.
– Perform and document hemodynamic and physiologic waveforms and calculations as necessary.
– Communicate effectively with co-workers, physicians, patients, families, and ancillary departments, consistently upholding Corewell Health standards.
– Conduct quality assurance checks on technical equipment and perform departmental skills validations.
– Adhere to radiation safety standards for staff and patients in alignment with the Corewell Health Radiation Safety Department.
– Be available for on-call duties as scheduled by the department.
– IR Special Procedure Technologists are expected to assist physicians using sterile techniques and fully engage in 3D imaging, vascular, and cerebral cases as applicable.
– Cath Lab Technologists must utilize IVUS, FFR, OCT, ICE, and EKOS techniques, as applicable.
– EP Lab Technologists should use ICE, assist in device implants, and circulate in all other EP cases as applicable.

STANDARD QUALIFICATIONS:

Education / Training:
– For Interventional Radiology, completion of an accredited radiography program (JRCERT) is required.
– For Cath Lab/EP Lab roles, candidates must be graduates of a Cardiovascular Technologist program, possess an Associate degree in cardiovascular technology/basic science, hold a Paramedic license, be an Exercise Physiologist, or have equivalent training and/or education.
Work Experience:
– Clinical experience is required, obtained through graduation from one of the aforementioned programs.
– A minimum of one year of experience in Electrophysiology (EP), Cath Lab, or Interventional Radiology (IR) is required.
Certification, Licensure, Registration:
– For IR roles, BLS certification and active RT status are required upon hire, with RT-CV or VI certification to be obtained within two years of hire.
– For Cath Lab roles, BLS is required upon hire with ACLS certification needed within six months, along with registered certifications in RCES/RCIS/RT and IABP certification.
– For EP Lab roles, BLS is required upon hire with ACLS certification needed within six months, along with registration as RCIS/RCES.
Other Qualifications:
– Proficiency in basic computer skills, strong mathematical skills, exceptional communication capabilities, and outstanding customer service skills.
