SIGN ON BONUS: $15,000
FULL TIME – DAYS
GENERAL SUMMARY:
Under limited supervision, the Senior Special Procedure Tech provides comprehensive pre-, intra-, and post-procedural care for patients undergoing heart and vascular procedures, supporting physicians while delivering high-quality, patient- and family-centered care. Responsibilities may include initiating IV access, preparing patients, monitoring hemodynamics, operating specialized equipment, documenting procedures, managing vascular access sites, and educating patients and families.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Monitor patients undergoing routine invasive and interventional procedures, ensuring the provision of technical support and quality patient-centered care throughout the process.
- Perform and document hemodynamic and physiological waveforms and calculations as required.
- Communicate effectively with colleagues, physicians, patients, families, and ancillary departments while consistently upholding the Corewell Health Standards.
- Conduct quality assurance checks on technical equipment and participate in departmental skills validations.
- Uphold radiation safety standards for staff and patients in accordance with the Corewell Health Radiation Safety Department.
- Be available for on-call duties as per the departmental schedule.
- Provide training and mentorship to less experienced technicians, as needed.
- Interventional Radiology (IR) Special Procedure Techs must assist physicians using sterile technique and actively engage in image post-processing, cross-modality imaging (CT, Ultrasound), 3D imaging, and vascular and cerebral cases performed at the site.
- Cath Lab Special Procedure Techs must proficiently utilize IVUS, FFR, OCT, ICE, EKOS, Impella, and perform cardiac, peripheral, and carotid interventions, if applicable at the site.
- Electrophysiology (EP) Lab Special Procedure Techs must be adept in employing ICE, participating in device implants, and circulating in all other EP cases, as well as executing 3D mapping, advanced EP procedures, and laser lead extractions.
STANDARD QUALIFICATIONS:
Education / Training:
- Interventional Radiology candidates must have completed an accredited radiography program (JRCERT).
- Cath Lab and EP Lab candidates should possess a graduate degree in a Cardiovascular Technologist program, an associate degree in cardiovascular technology/basic science, a Paramedic license, or possess equivalent training and/or education.
Work Experience:
- A minimum of three years of interventional experience is required.
- Candidates must demonstrate expertise in the clinical skills listed within each department and/or site scope and should be capable of training others in these skills.
- In departments comprising multiple specialties, candidates must exhibit proficiency across all areas performed.
Certification, Licensure, Registration:
- Interventional Radiology roles require BLS certification and active RT status upon hire, with RT-CV or VI registration.
- Cath Lab positions mandate BLS and ACLS certification upon hire, along with Registered RCES/RCIS/RT certification, and IABP certification.
- EP Lab roles necessitate BLS and ACLS certification upon hire, with Registered RCIS/RCES/RT credentials.
Other Qualifications:
- Proficient computer skills, strong mathematical abilities, exceptional communication skills, and outstanding customer service skills are essential.
- Cath Lab personnel must be able to arrive on-site within 30 minutes; IR call response times may vary by facility.
