Northrop Grumman is seeking a Senior Principal Database Administrator (DBA) in support of the National Air and Space Intelligence Center (NASIC) at Wright Patterson Air Force Base. NASIC is tasked with generating all-source intelligence to define the present and future air, air defense, cyber, space, and ballistic missile threats, thereby enabling military operations, force modernization, and policy development. In this role, the DBA will play a key part in a team of Database Administrators responsible for managing Oracle, MariaDB/MySQL, MongoDB, and various Graph Databases. The selected candidate will lead the implementation of new enterprise-level Graph Database solutions while also providing comprehensive support for other database environments. This position offers an array of modernization opportunities, including cloud technologies and DevOps CI/CD pipelines. Developing expertise in containerization and Kubernetes will be essential as NASIC’s Database architecture undergoes digital transformation. The candidate will be required to support a production environment onsite at NASIC/WPAFB upon obtaining the necessary clearance to address mission-critical needs.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 8 years of experience, OR a master’s degree with 6 years of experience, OR a high school diploma/equivalent with 12 years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in Database Administration
  • Ability to obtain IAT Level II certification, such as SecurityX or Security+
  • Active Department of Defense Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information security clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with DevOps architecture, including Kubernetes, Nexus, Harbor, Docker, GitLab, etc.
  • Experience in the administration of Oracle, MariaDB/MySQL, MongoDB, or Graph Databases
  • Experience with Apache, NGINX, or JBoss Server administration
  • Proficiency in scripting using tools such as Bash, Python, Perl, PowerShell, etc.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Active CompTIA SecurityX or Security+ certification

Salary Range: $113,500.00 – $170,300.00

The above salary range serves as a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers various factors when determining base salary offers, including the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate’s experience, education, skills, and market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differentials, and discretionary bonuses, in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions and allow employees to share in company performance. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may qualify for Long-Term Incentives. Furthermore, Northrop Grumman offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, life and disability insurance, a savings plan, company-paid holidays, and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and personal business.
