As a Social Services Technician 3 (SS Tech 3) within the Columbus Health Department at the Georgia Department of Public Health, you will be part of a devoted team working to fulfill our mission of safeguarding the lives of Georgian residents in diverse ways.
Job Responsibilities:
This position is based in Columbus, GA and is not remote. Your expertise will support the Department through the following responsibilities:
- Engage in recruitment activities as applicable.
- Conduct initial and annual family-centered assessments for each family served.
- Develop, monitor, and review individualized goals in collaboration with each family.
- Provide personal virtual or home visits that focus on enhancing parent-child interactions, development-centered parenting, and overall family well-being, including planning, delivering, and documenting the visit.
- Utilize the Parent As Teachers (PAT) Foundational curriculum to disseminate research-based information to families.
- Organize group connections for families to foster social interaction, engage in parent-child activities, and enhance knowledge regarding child development support.
- Connect families with necessary resources and assist them in transitioning to additional services as required.
- Maintain and submit all required family and program documentation promptly.
- Organize and manage inventory of supplies and materials.
- Participate in at least two hours of reflective supervision and two hours of staff meetings monthly.
- Pursue competency-based professional development and renew parent educator certification annually.
- Engage actively in continuous quality improvement efforts.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED, coupled with three (3) years of experience in a social services-related role, OR one (1) year of experience at the lower-level Social Services Technician 2 (SST011) or an equivalent position.
Preferred Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s Degree in a social services-related field from an accredited college or university, along with one year of experience in a relevant social services role.
Additional Information:
All employees within the West Central Health District 7 are considered essential workers during emergencies. You may be required to assist in various capacities, including staffing a shelter or working at a Specimen Point of Collection Site (SPOC) or a Point of Dispensing site (POD). Attendance at the designated site during such emergencies is a condition of employment, irrespective of whether these events occur during regular work hours.
