The incumbent will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and effective processing of patients within the practice. This role includes assisting providers in delivering high-quality and compassionate patient care.

Essential Duties:
– Prepare patients for examination.
– Review patient charts to ensure completeness and accuracy; escort patients to exam rooms and perform necessary assessment functions, including blood pressure, temperature, height, and weight. Update medication and allergy information, inquire about health history, and inform the provider when the patient is ready for examination.
– Administer immunizations and medications, and assist with treatments as authorized by the provider.
– Participate in the orientation of new caregivers.
– Screen and triage phone calls, taking accurate messages and ensuring they are distributed to the appropriate personnel. Handle prescription calls to pharmacies.
– Maintain practice standards through participation in in-services and committees, and assist in the development and implementation of quality control and practice policies.
– Perform clerical duties as needed to support efficient practice operations.
– Manage inventory, ordering, and restocking of supplies as necessary, while maintaining equipment and ensuring environmental safety.
– Engage in and promote patient and family education, fostering an informative environment for patients and their families.
– Administer oral and injectable medications and manage prescription calls to pharmacies.
– Document information accurately in the electronic medical record.
– Offer support at the front desk as needed.

Job Requirements:

General Requirements:
– BCLS certification is required.
– Certification as a Medical Assistant (M.A.) through the American Medical Technologists (AMT) or the Associate of Medical Assistants (AAMA) is preferred.

Work Experience:
– Basic computer knowledge and keyboarding skills are essential.
– Experience with electronic health records, specifically EPIC, is desired.
– Experience as a Medical Assistant in a physician office setting is preferred.

Education:
– High school diploma or equivalent is required.
– Completion of a formal medical assistant training program, including an externship, is necessary.

Specialized Knowledge and Skills:
– The ability to provide patient care that is age-specific, addressing physical, safety, psychosocial needs, and educational levels.
– Demonstrates a positive team-oriented approach and possesses interpersonal skills necessary for effective communication with patients, their families, providers, and coworkers.
– Basic computer knowledge and keyboarding proficiency are required.
