Job description:

This position functions as a manager responsible for overseeing daily server operations within the State of Michigan. The incumbent will manage hardware and operating system support for all decentralized servers and data center-hosted servers, as facilitated by the Enterprise Virtualization Services Section. Key responsibilities encompass the following:

  • Installation and configuration of servers
  • Monitoring and performance management of servers
  • Server security management
  • Establishment of best practices for server management

The office is located in Lansing, MI. The State of Michigan is unable to offer employment to out-of-state applicants who do not intend to relocate. The Department of Technology Management and Budget currently provides a hybrid work model, requiring employees to be onsite two days a week, with the flexibility of three days remote work.

Required Education and Experience

Education
A bachelor’s degree in any field.

Experience
A minimum of four years of professional experience, including at least two years at the experienced (P11) level or one year at the advanced (P12) level.

Alternate Education and Experience
Completion of high school along with two years of safety and regulatory or law enforcement experience at the 14 level, or one year at the 15 level, may be substituted for the required education and experience.
