WOW! is actively seeking a dedicated System Technician to join our team in Madison Heights, MI. As a crucial member of our Field Operations team, you will play an essential role in ensuring our facilities operate smoothly and efficiently while working directly in designated neighborhoods to install and repair broadband communication systems. Qualifications:

  • Ability to effectively communicate technical information to non-technical audiences.
  • Proficiency in measuring distances using various tools and devices.
  • Experience with testing equipment, such as signal level meters, voltage ohm meters, and TDR.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage assignments and responsibilities efficiently.
  • Capability to maintain accurate records, logs, and reports.

Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot and rectify issues within HFC networks.
  • Execute testing, balancing, alignment, and adjustments of signal-related components.
  • Conduct maintenance and repair tasks on HFC network power supplies.
  • splice and activate fiber optic cables and related network components.
  • Contribute to training initiatives and conduct serviceability surveys.
  • Engage in emergency fiber restoration efforts.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation for urgent repair needs.
  • Identify and report compliance incidents per FCC, NESC, OSHA, and WOW! standards.
  • Uphold system security in alignment with corporate procedures.
  • Represent WOW! professionally to customers, associates, and external organizations.
  • Deliver outstanding customer service while maintaining a professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Manage company vehicle, tools, and equipment per corporate policies.
  • Identify and rectify signal leakage to comply with FCC Cumulative Leakage Index standards.
  • Complete assignments to meet WOW! quality expectations.

Physical Demands/Working Conditions:

  • Ability to work outside in varying weather conditions and across different terrains.
  • Capacity to operate in confined spaces, at heights, and in potentially hazardous environments.
  • Strength to lift and carry tools and equipment weighing up to 90 pounds.
  • Skill in utilizing various hand tools and test equipment.
  • Proficiency in visual tasks including close vision and peripheral awareness.
  • Capability to drive company vehicles safely.
