Job description:

We are seeking a highly skilled Systems Engineer to manage and support our Avaya and Cisco infrastructure, ensuring the reliability and efficiency of our telecommunications systems. This position entails configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting both Avaya and Cisco platforms to meet our organization’s communication needs. The ideal candidate will possess a robust technical background in Avaya and Cisco platforms and demonstrate a commitment to optimizing our telecom infrastructure for enhanced performance and security.

Essential Functions

  • Operate independently with minimal supervision to develop both critical and non-critical systems as part of the Corewell Health technology infrastructure, while adhering to customer specifications and budgets.
  • Conduct technical risk assessments of system readiness for operational turnover. Stay informed on emerging technologies, industry standards, and system trends that align with customer needs and core Digital Services (DS) architectural standards.
  • Engage in project planning and execution related to system architecture, design, integration, testing, and implementation. Analyze system requirements and constraints to engineer innovative technical solutions that fulfill business needs across several dimensions. Design implementable and supportable solutions within current organizational structures or define new structures as necessary. As a project team member, manage assigned tasks, schedules, change control, and project status reporting. Coordinate with team members to ensure successful delivery of all technical project aspects.
  • Contribute to operational support for assigned systems, including creating detailed support documentation and facilitating knowledge transfer among team members.
  • Take responsibility for resolving implementation and support issues, collaborating with support teams to troubleshoot and address escalated incidents and problems, in accordance with established DS procedures for problem and situation management. Partake in the generation of relevant technical and support documentation.
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of end-user devices and their integration with various equipment, as well as core networking concepts such as TCP/IP, WINS, DNS, and DHCP. Possess familiarity with Windows Server and Desktop platforms, Enterprise Directories, storage subsystems, and relational databases.

Qualifications
Required

  • Associate’s Degree or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of two years of full-time experience in systems engineering (including design, implementation, and support of system and infrastructure services), with a comprehensive understanding of the systems development lifecycle (requirements gathering, design, development, testing, implementation, support, and service level measurement).
  • Proven expertise with Avaya and Cisco telecom platforms.
  • Knowledge of PBX, VoIP, SIP, and relevant network protocols.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting capabilities.
  • Flexibility to participate in an on-call rotation outside of regular business hours, approximately once every 12 weeks.

Preferred

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
