Position Description
- The Materials Clerk Lead is responsible for ensuring that the team adheres to established policies, procedures, and work instructions to guarantee the timely and efficient execution of daily shipping and receiving operations.
- The Materials Clerk Lead will provide comprehensive training to team members and uphold safety and quality standards at all times.
- This role includes maintaining accountability for personal shipping and receiving tasks.
Essential Job Functions
- Acts as an extension of Management within the department.
- Serves as the first point of contact for all Material Handling issues, escalating matters as necessary.
- Takes on additional leadership responsibilities in the absence of the department supervisor or manager.
- Ensures that all areas of the department, including Shipping & Receiving, Material Control, and Deliveries, are operated efficiently.
- Complies with Environmental Health & Safety responsibilities, including participating in accident investigations.
- Collaborates with the continuous improvement team to enhance operations and streamline processes.
- Prioritizes safety, quality, and production in departmental operations.
- Works diligently to meet and surpass customer expectations.
- Pursues operational excellence and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensures that all team members have the necessary tools and supplies required for their roles.
- Troubleshoots issues related to machinery, processes, products, and personnel.
- Takes responsibility for maintaining housekeeping standards in the area, including assigning 5S and Housekeeping duties as required.
- Communicates and ensures the achievement of Daily Performance Metrics.
- Participates in and leads MDI board meetings and associated activities.
Education, Experience & Skills
- A High School Diploma or General Equivalent Diploma (GED) is required.
- An Associate degree is preferred.
- A minimum of one (1) year of manufacturing experience is preferred.
- Demonstrated skills in change management.
- Proven ability to lead and motivate a team.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Willingness to engage in courses related to leadership and continuous improvement methodologies, including Lean Training, Problem Solving, 5S, and the 5 Whys, among others as determined by the Department Manager.

Physical Requirements
