Basic Job Functions:

Perform daily reliability operations and testing within the Reliability Lab in a safe manner to ensure products meet performance and warranty commitments under varying outdoor exposure conditions. Collaborate with Reliability Engineers on multifaceted assignments related to second-source supplier qualifications, product reliability monitoring, product/process qualification programs, and test equipment development. Cultivate expertise while training new associates and support plant expansions and satellite plants in coordination with other technicians in Perrysburg.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline (Electrical preferred) OR
  • Associate degree or equivalent in a technical discipline (Electrical preferred) with a minimum of 2 years working experience in a manufacturing or lab environment OR
  • High School Diploma with a minimum of 5 years working experience in a manufacturing lab or quality environment OR
  • High School Diploma with a minimum of 2 years of progressive experience at First Solar in manufacturing or quality environment.
  • Calibration/testing/measurement experience is an added advantage.

Required Skills/Competencies:

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Conduct baseline and post-test measurements for all standard Reliability tests.
  • Safely load and operate all standard Reliability Stress Test equipment.
  • Process warranty returns.
  • Perform data entry for Reliability testing.
  • Ensure all tests and measurements are completed as scheduled.
  • Communicate any abnormal findings regarding the product or testing equipment promptly.
  • Willingness to work additional hours and weekends to support testing or measurements.
  • Operate independently with minimal supervision.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and housekeeping standards.
  • Assist with additional tasks or responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Provide guidance to team members in the supervisor’s absence.
  • Identify discrepancies in testing and recommend root cause analyses or action plans.
  • Understand, load, and test according to IEC 61215 Standard Testing procedures.
  • Identify and retrieve weekly PRM or ETA modules for reliability testing per schedule.
  • Perform calibration and ensure simulators are maintained in optimal condition for product testing.
  • Train new technicians in module testing, measurements, handling, and usage of testing equipment.
  • Identify durability or stability defects and initiate failure analysis procedures, communicating findings to relevant personnel (Level 2 failure analysis and troubleshooting).
  • Ensure that waste materials are disposed of in designated containers.
  • Maintain hazardous waste containers closed except when adding or removing waste.
  • Ensure satellite accumulation containers are properly located.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

US Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit, stand, or walk short distances for the duration of a shift.
  • Occasional climbing of stairs.
