As a Transportation Planner I, you will be an integral part of a focused team consisting of four planners/analysts and one supervisor within the Abbott Nutrition Transportation Operations department. This team plays a pivotal role in ensuring timely shipments to our most critical customers. Collaboration and effective communication are essential, and the ideal candidate will demonstrate strong teamwork skills and a willingness to assist colleagues.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Logistics team with initiatives that align with division goals, enhance customer service, and optimize costs.
  • Engage effectively with Third Party Providers, Quality Assurance, Customer Service Operations, Global Purchasing, Finance, Customer DC Operations, Carrier Operations, Sales Management, and Division Logistics teams.
  • Conduct business in adherence to the highest ethical standards and in compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Utilize the Transportation Management System to schedule various types of shipments, including same-day air, LTL pool, and parcel ground shipments.
  • Monitor the group inbox to address urgent requests and inquiries promptly.
  • Validate and maintain weekly service reports while providing technical support within SAP.
  • Offer backfill support to other planners as needed.
  • Track shipments and facilitate proactive communication with both internal teams and external partners.
  • Contribute to departmental projects and assignments as required, while being accountable for delivery scheduling across full truckload, less than truckload, parcel, and air shipments.
  • Develop expertise in assigned tasks and responsibilities.
  • Solve complex problems, often with a sense of urgency.
  • Use E2Open and SAP for efficient shipment processing.
  • Analyze data from Power BI and Excel to inform decision-making.
  • Refine and maintain critical processes to ensure high-quality performance.
  • Interact effectively with Global Logistics teams, Commercial teams, external carriers, and customers.
  • Lead or participate in continuous improvement initiatives aimed at process enhancement.
  • Generate and manage necessary reporting to ensure departmental success.
  • Assist with End of Month/Quarter/Year objectives for the broader Transportation team.

Qualifications:

  • Required:

    • Preferred college degree in Supply Chain or a related field.
    • Proficient overall computer skills.
    • Strong capabilities in Microsoft Office applications, specifically Power BI, Excel, SharePoint, Outlook, and Teams.
  • Preferred:
    • 2+ years of relevant experience or formal education related to Supply Chain.
    • Familiarity with trucking, manufacturing operations, or logistics.
    • Experience with SAP or E2Open (Blujay) TMS.
    • Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies such as Six Sigma or Lean.
    • Excellent written, verbal, and organizational skills.

Additional Information:

  • This position is an on-site role without options for remote work.
  • It is an individual contributor position with no direct reports.
  • The working hours are approximately 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, during traditional business hours, with minimal to no expectations for weekend or after-hours work.
