Job description:

We are pleased to announce an exciting opportunity for a Unified Communications Engineer to join our esteemed team and play a critical role in the implementation of a new data center that will support all operations at United Shore. In this position, you will be responsible for ensuring the stable operation of our enterprise Cisco Unified Communications systems, utilizing a Plan, Build, Operate model.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the administration of Cisco Voice Applications and third-party tools.
  • Monitor communication server clusters to maintain optimal performance.
  • Troubleshoot, analyze, and resolve system outages and manage trouble tickets effectively.
  • Generate reports on capacity, performance, uptime, and security.
  • Maintain comprehensive and current documentation related to system design, operations, and procedural manuals.
  • Lead project implementations and assist with various technical tasks.
  • Participate in on-call coverage and emergency response efforts as required.
  • Provide in-person training and support to team members while mentoring other telecom staff.

Qualifications:
Required:

  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in the administration of Cisco Unified Communication systems, particularly:
    • Cisco Unified Communications Manager
    • Cisco Unity Connection
    • Cisco IM & Presence
    • Cisco Contact Center Enterprise
    • CUBE/Gateway troubleshooting
    • Cisco Emergency Responder
    • Call Recording Applications
    • Proficiency with Linux operating systems
    • Experience with scripting and API integration
    • Knowledge of SQL, MS DB, MySQL, or MariaDB
    • Proven vendor relationship management skills
    • Excellent communication skills, capable of interacting effectively with leadership, team members, and clients
    • Familiar with ticketing systems such as ServiceNow
    • Experience with VMWare Servers
    • Background in Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity planning
    • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating multitasking capabilities, a positive attitude, and a willingness to learn
    • Familiarity with IT frameworks, including Agile and ITIL
    • Availability for on-site, full-time work in Pontiac, Michigan
    • Involvement in product recommendations, proof of concepts (POC), and technology evaluations
    • Ability to present technology solutions to business leaders

Preferred:

  • A degree in a computer-related field or equivalent experience, or progress towards CCIE Collaboration certification.
