No prior experience is necessary; however, military veterans and individuals with backgrounds in security, firefighting, corrections, or law enforcement are highly encouraged to apply.
Shift Openings: Available Monday through Sunday with opportunities across 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shifts.
Compensation: The hourly rate ranges from $16.00 to $19.00, commensurate with experience, shift availability, and location. We strive to align candidates with positions that match their qualifications and preferences; however, limited availability may affect eligibility for specific roles.
This is a part-time position. Flexibility may allow for up to 39 hours per week in certain circumstances.
Please note, this is not an armed security position, and weapons are not permitted on the premises, including personal vehicles.
About the Job:
As a Security Officer at DK Security, you will serve a critical role in safeguarding our clients’ properties. Your responsibilities will vary by contract, providing a dynamic and engaging work environment. Key duties include:
- Customer Service: Represent the company positively by assisting clients, staff, visitors, and colleagues while maintaining a professional demeanor.
- Observe and Report: Remain vigilant and monitor for any suspicious activities or incidents.
- Security Presence: Uphold a professional image while stationed in building lobbies, reception areas, and control centers.
- Security Patrol: Conduct foot and/or vehicle patrols within your designated areas, carrying out necessary security duties.
- Access Control: Verify that only authorized personnel access restricted zones, check employee and vendor identifications, and adhere to access protocols.
- Safety Patrol: Create a safe environment for all employees and visitors by enforcing location policies and reporting safety concerns.
- Emergency Response: Be prepared to assist in emergencies, including providing CPR, First Aid, and AED care, while effectively communicating with emergency services.
- Security Liaison: Foster professional communication with client staff, promptly address requests, and keep supervisors informed of all client interactions.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years of age and possess a high school diploma or equivalent (e.g., GED) in compliance with MCL 338.1067 §17(2). For armed security work, candidates must be at least 21 years old and hold a Michigan CPL or LEOSA card.
- Must successfully pass a drug screening upon hire and randomly thereafter (including for marijuana). Compliance with federal regulations necessitates adherence to drug screening requirements.
- Must not have any felony convictions as per MCL 338.1060 §10(1)(c).
- Must not have misdemeanor convictions relating to dishonesty, fraud, impersonation of law enforcement, assault, weapon offenses, unauthorized sale of information, or controlled substances, including multiple alcohol-related offenses, as specified in MCL 338.1060 §10(1)(c).
- Must be capable of sitting, standing, and walking for 8-12 hours, including navigating stairs.
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. (70 lbs. for armed positions).
- Must possess CPR, First Aid, and AED certification (for Child, Infant, and Adult), or be willing to obtain certification and demonstrate the physical ability to provide lifesaving care.
- Must have clear vision of at least 20 feet (corrective lenses acceptable).
- Must be able to hear conversations in noisy environments, either in person or via radio.
- Must be proficient in using a smartphone or computer for email communication and completing online training.
- Must communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Must maintain professionalism and demonstrate exceptional customer service skills.
- Must exhibit high personal integrity and a positive attitude.
- Must complete required trainings in a timely manner and adhere to all client and company policies.
Note: Current employees on active disciplinary probation are not eligible for this position. Additionally, employees previously removed from the contract associated with this role will not be considered, nor will those who were on disciplinary probation at the time of separation.
