Job description:
The Virtual Field Representative (VFR) will play a pivotal role in the commercialization of Vertex Pharmaceuticals’ therapies, utilizing teleconferencing and telephone communications to engage with selected healthcare offices and providers. This position involves delivering key clinical information and educational resources as part of remote interactions. The VFR will need to exhibit flexibility in job responsibilities, which will encompass various tasks, including white space and vacant territory coverage, as well as collaboration with Vertex employees to address stakeholder needs.
The VFR is responsible for fostering positive virtual interactions and promoting the growth of the Client’s products. Exceptional customer service skills, along with refined marketing and commercial expertise, are essential for engaging current office stakeholders and establishing trusting relationships with healthcare providers. Moreover, the ability to elucidate the features of assigned products and address related inquiries to ensure proper therapeutic application is crucial. A comprehensive understanding of complex medical concepts, industry compliance guidelines, Vertex programs, and the pharmacy and insurance landscapes is also required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

– Completing assigned disease state and product training within established timeframes to develop a thorough understanding of the market, disease state, clinical information, and core messaging.
– Delivering education-focused messages, approved by the review committee, along with comprehensive disease-state information to targeted healthcare providers (HCPs).
– Collaborating with existing Vertex employees to devise and implement business plans.
– Enhancing HCP awareness of Vertex Pharmaceuticals products and clinical data, and equipping HCPs with tools to facilitate in-depth clinical discussions with their patients regarding the therapeutic area.
– Building trust, knowledge, and confidence among HCPs in identifying potential treatment gaps within patient populations.
– Increasing awareness of assigned therapeutic areas and empowering HCPs to recognize treatment gaps in diagnosed patients.
– Meeting call activity, adherence goals, and brand performance objectives as defined by the Client.
– Accurately generating sample and literature requests while performing follow-up and investigation on product shipments as necessary.
– Maintaining detailed database entries on targeted customer calls, including attempts, product discussions, literature, and sample requests.
– Providing feedback and recommendations to team leadership regarding areas for improvement and opportunities for growth.
– Complying with all company, PDMA, compliance, and regulatory policies and guidelines.
– Operating independently from a remote home office.
– Cultivating the assigned virtual territory and being accountable for measurable outcomes.
– Performing additional duties as needed.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
The qualifications listed below represent the experience, education, knowledge, skills, and abilities required:
– A bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
– A minimum of 2 years of sales experience in an outbound virtual/tele-sales or field sales role, preferably within the healthcare or pharmaceutical sector.
– Experience in pain management is preferred, along with prior product launch experience being an asset.
– Demonstrated strong sales aptitude in highly competitive markets, with a proven track record of sales results and a deep understanding of the total office call.
– Proficient in Microsoft Office programs, particularly Word, Excel, and Outlook, with the ability to learn new software as required.
– Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
– Capacity to assimilate complex medical topics, adhering to compliance guidelines, and knowledge of patient assistance programs, pharmacy relations, and insurance/market access landscapes.
– Confidence and competency in conversing with physicians and various levels of medical office personnel.
– A stable internet connection sufficient to support VoIP calls and virtual communication platforms.
