Job description:

Ryder is actively seeking a Permanent Part-Time Warehouse Associate/Material Handler to join our team in Bay City, Michigan.

Compensation and Schedule:

  • Hourly Pay: $21.00
  • Schedule: Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday, from 8:00 AM to 6:30 PM

Qualifications:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred; a minimum of six months of related warehouse experience is required.
  • One year or more of related warehouse experience is preferred.
  • Familiarity with operating powered industrial trucks, including stand-up and sit-down forklifts, cherry pickers, and pallet jacks is necessary; operating and maintenance skills (such as battery changes and recognizing common mechanical issues) are required.
  • Ability to operate manual and/or automated warehouse and manufacturing equipment (e.g., packaging lines) is preferred.
  • Requires powered industrial truck certification.
  • Basic proficiency in reading and mathematics in English for safety and work instructions.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted.
  • Ability to input data into the warehouse management system (WMS).
  • Willingness to work overtime as assigned.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to foster professional relationships across all levels of the organization.
  • Capability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Flexibility and self-motivation to excel in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Package, kit, and assemble orders and materials as required.
  • Load and unload inbound and outbound trailers, ensuring accurate scanning is performed.
  • Assist in training dock employees on new procedures.
  • Ensure facility security at the end of shifts and investigate or resolve scanning issues and housekeeping tasks.
  • Perform picking and packing duties while checking for product or container damage.
  • Execute assigned tasks according to established policies and procedures, including handling materials in logical transactions.
  • Conduct material moves in conjunction with necessary physical/logical transactions.
  • Participate in team activities focused on self-improvement and enhancing warehouse operations.
  • Maintain housekeeping duties in assigned areas and perform additional responsibilities as assigned.
