This physically demanding role primarily involves the manual assembly of product pallets for bulk and route trucks. Each loading task necessitates meticulous attention to detail and order accuracy, ensuring that outgoing trucks are correctly loaded and that incoming trucks are efficiently unloaded. The employee will utilize an electronic order system or paper order sheets to construct loads, employing a forklift and/or electronic pallet jack. Additionally, the position requires strict adherence to loading accuracy and compliance with shipper/receiver documentation. Employees are expected to follow warehouse protocols while constructing loads and must maintain a clean and safe work environment at all times. The position may also entail working under various weather conditions, with shift lengths varying based on workload.
Responsibilities in transport truck loading include moving full pallets of products from the warehouse to a trailer and handling any returned pallets or plastic flats. For bulk truck loading, the role requires selecting specified packages and flavors and ensuring the proper stacking and shrink-wrapping of pallets, which are typically loaded onto a trailer for local delivery. The route truck loading aspect involves curating product packages based on the sales orders, with responsibility for unloading returned items.
The role demands the lifting of numerous cases of products daily, each weighing between 20-45 pounds, with repetitive motions throughout extended work periods. Candidates must be prepared for continuous standing, walking, bending, twisting, squatting, reaching, and grasping while handling products.
PRIMARY JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES:
– Operate a power pallet jack or forklift to navigate to the picking area and construct pallets/loads according to provided load sheets or voice-pick audio equipment.
– Record out-of-stock items on the load ticket.
– Securely wrap finished pallets/loads.
– Submit paperwork for order verification prior to loading and ensure truck checks are completed.
– Stage pallets and/or load them into trucks when prepared.
– Complete partial pallets and organize mixed pallets.
– Uphold outstanding housekeeping standards within the workspace.
– Maintain regular, reliable, and predictable attendance.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
– Must be at least 18 years of age.
HELPFUL EXPERIENCE:
– Prior experience in a warehouse environment, including order selection, product storage, staging, and operating powered pallet jacks or forklifts.
– Proficiency in forklift operation, ensuring safe maneuvering in tight spaces.
– Familiarity with racking systems and loading/unloading pallets.
– Ability to work effectively within a team environment, collaborating with colleagues and engaging in joint problem-solving.
