POSITION SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the Juvenile Services Manager, the Direct Care position is responsible for the direct care of female youth at risk who are entrusted to Peckham. This role involves creating and maintaining a safe and nurturing team environment for these adolescents. Direct Care staff participate in the development, implementation, and documentation of each adolescent’s treatment plan, attend to their personal, health, and behavioral needs, and perform various tasks including light housekeeping, assisting with homework, cooking, completing necessary paperwork, and engaging residents in community and recreational activities. Additional responsibilities include crisis intervention and participation in clinical consultations and treatment conferences. Please note that our contract specifies that this position must be filled by a female staff member.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to:
- Serving as a positive role model for children within and outside of the facility.
- Teaching essential daily living skills.
- Ensuring a safe and supportive environment.
- Maintaining accurate recordkeeping and documentation.
- Employing a collaborative approach for all projects.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES may include:
- Promoting Peckham’s vision, values, and services to all customers and stakeholders.
- Assisting in upholding organization-wide quality standards.
- Ensuring a safe and clean environment.
- Performing other related duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position does not entail supervisory responsibilities.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma
- 6 months to 1 year of experience working with youth
- Ability to pass and maintain required security clearances
- Valid unrestricted driver’s license with a clean driving record
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree
- Experience with the juvenile court system
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
First Aid, CPR, restraint training, and other relevant certifications may be obtained upon hire.
