Entech Staffing is currently seeking a Youth Residential Specialist to join a dedicated team in the Royal Oak area. The Youth Mentor plays an essential role within our client’s organization, focusing on the support and empowerment of young individuals experiencing homelessness. This position demands a strong commitment to trauma-informed care and a genuine passion for assisting youth in achieving stability and independence. The ideal candidate will possess excellent interpersonal skills, a flexible and adaptive approach, and a profound understanding of the challenges faced by homeless youth.
Responsibilities & Duties
Direct Youth Support:
- Facilitate the development of daily living skills, interpersonal skills, and engaging recreational activities.
- Monitor youth activities to ensure adherence to individualized treatment plans.
- Provide crisis intervention support when necessary.
- Conduct intake interviews and orientations for new youth participants.
Program Operations:
- Coordinate and oversee shift activities with mentors, volunteers, and interns.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming environment.
- Ensure compliance with program regulations as well as federal, state, and local laws.
- Transport youth to appointments and activities as required.
- Administer medication and first aid as needed.
- Maintain accurate and thorough records of all interactions and activities.
Teamwork and Collaboration:
- Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams to meet the diverse needs of youth.
- Assist with front-desk operations and manage crisis calls.
- Adhere to agency policies and procedures.
Minimum Qualifications
- Lived or professional experience working with homeless individuals.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 1-2 years of experience in human or social services.
- Ability to successfully pass a rigorous background check.
- Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license.
Hours:
- Saturday and Sunday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM: $16/hour
- Saturday and Sunday, 4:00 PM – 12:00 AM: $18/hour
