Job description:

GSWO is seeking a highly motivated Girl Experience Program Manager to join our Cincinnati team. At Girl Scouts of Western Ohio, our programs are uniquely designed by, with, and for girls, ensuring that everything we do revolves around their experiences. Our Program Managers play a pivotal role in creating and leading programs that enhance the girl experience, presenting them with engaging and challenging activities that promote learning, personal growth, and empowerment. Our offerings include badges, awards, outdoor and camping experiences, community service initiatives where girls can positively impact their communities, and exciting field trips and events. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with youth, cultivating community and corporate partnerships, organizing events, and fostering girl leadership empowerment. Please note that many programs are conducted during evenings and weekends; therefore, candidates must be available for regular evening and weekend work.

The primary objective of this role is to design and oversee programs and events that align with our organization’s mission while supporting its goals. The Program Manager will ensure that program and event milestones are met and adhere to budgetary constraints. Additionally, this position entails building community partnerships and developing resources that support the Girl Scout Leadership Experience.

Essential Functions:

  • Develop and manage a strategic, multi-year, data-driven plan that addresses the ongoing success of council initiatives and priorities.
  • Create, implement, and evaluate council-sponsored events for girls in grades K-12, based on the council’s strategic planning, organizational goals, and desired Girl Scout outcomes.
  • Cultivate and oversee a diverse portfolio of high-quality, community-based partnerships, assisting external organizations in aligning their program offerings with GSUSA’s National Program.
  • Manage program volunteers and administrative committees to support member retention as well as strategic goals and outcomes of Girl Scouts.
  • Support the administration of volunteer-led day camps, overseeing aspects such as risk management, financial stewardship, and program processes.
  • Oversee the creation and management of budgets for council-sponsored events and initiatives to meet revenue targets while managing expenses.
  • Guide members in adherence to risk management policies outlined in Volunteer Essentials and Safety Activity Checkpoints.
  • Offer support to the Program team and department as required.

Supervisory Responsibility:
This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position, primarily requiring work Monday through Friday, with frequent Saturday and occasional evening and Sunday commitments. Work hours will vary based on support required by service units and the time of year.

Travel:
This role requires regular travel to designated geographic areas of the council, with mileage reimbursement provided.

Required Education and Experience:

  • High School diploma is required; a Bachelor’s degree is preferred, or equivalent work experience in a related field, or a combination of education, training, and experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Demonstrated experience and comfort in working with youth is essential.
  • A solid background in program management, including the creation, leadership, and implementation of community-based programs, is required.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment and a commitment to contributing toward organizational goals is crucial.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook is required.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications:
Candidates must be available for evening and weekend work and possess a valid state driver’s license and reliable vehicle for travel within the Girl Scouts of Western Ohio region. Successful completion of fingerprinting and a criminal background check is required as mandated by Ohio law. A commitment to positively impacting girls’ lives, as articulated in the Ends statements, mission, and goals outlined in the Board Policy Manual, is essential.

Physical Demands:
The role requires the employee to communicate effectively, frequently stand, walk, use hands for various tasks, and reach with arms. The employee must be able to lift and/or move objects weighing up to 10 pounds regularly and occasionally lift and/or move items weighing up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities necessary for this role include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
